Are you between the ages of 15 and 21?

                     Do you live in the North Quabbin area?

Become a member of the North Quabbin Young Leaders Council!

Join forces with other North Quabbin youth and shape your region's youth policies and programs! As a Young Leader, you'll help identify issues of concern to youth in the 9 towns and help schools, organizations and businesses do a better job of meeting the needs of youth. This is a great opportunity to beef up your resume, gain leadership skills, and open the door to job/career opportunities.

Join Us!
Teens and young adults ages 15 to 21 who live in North Quabbin region are eligible to join the Council. There are no membership fees. Join anytime by filling out and submitting the application and attending a Council meeting. The Council decides to accept or decline the candidate in closed session at the meeting. Meetings are held most Mondays from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at YES, 26 South Main Street, Orange.

Activities
2010
  • Launched Phil Harmonix Studio (a music studio for teens)
  • Hosted and facilitated 2 public forums for 2nd Franklin District state representative candidates
  • Raised $400 by organizing and running 2 community spaghetti suppers
  • Ran a food vending and amusement item table at Greenfield's July 4th celebration
  • Raised $272 via vending machine at YES, bottle & can redemption, and a bake sale
  • Miller's River Challenge (tabled at a canoe race fundraiser for an area youth program)
  • BizVenture Series 1 (helped develop and sponsored a youth business education series)

2009

  • Launched QuabbinTeens.org (web portal for area teens)
  • Miller's River Challenge (tabled at a canoe race fundraiser for an area youth program)
  • North Quabbin Garlic & Arts Festival (tabled and ran shuttle parking service)
  • Ran a food vending and amusement item table at Greenfield's July 4th celebration
  • Vagina Monologues play (helped organize and stage local production)
  • Sent a representative to sit on the local Cultural Council
  • A member won a regional Youth Peacemaker Award
  • A member was nominated for a regional Youth Citizen of the Year Award

2008

  • Sent a representative to sit on an area Youth Policy Board
  • Sent a representative to sit on the Regional Employment Board's Youth Council
  • North Quabbin Garlic & Arts Festival (tabled and ran shuttle parking service)
  • Community Coalition for Teens (organized an annual youth conference)
  • Developed a youth idea to prevent infant abuse by creating a onesie with abuse prevention messages
  • YouthSpeak (organized and hosted an annual youth jobs forum)
  • A member won a regional Youth Peacemaker Award
